The Øresund region and Region Zealand gain the most from the Fehmarn connection

Greater Copenhagen and southern Sweden will be the big economic winners on the Fehmarn connection. Region Zealand can also note significant financial gains, while Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg will not get much out of the project, new calculations from Rambøll show.

It requires further investment in the railways in both Denmark and Sweden if freight transport is to be moved from the roads to the railways. This is shown in a new Sweco report prepared for STRING and Greater Copenhagen.
